Meet Ben

My name is Ben Turner and I’m running for the office of Troup County Sheriff.  I grew up in LaGrange and graduated from LaGrange High School.  I attended Auburn University where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Sociology.  After graduating from Auburn University I began my employment with the Georgia Department of Public Safety as a member of the 89th Georgia State Patrol Basic Trooper School.  Upon graduating from Trooper School, a rigorous 36 weeks of training, I was assigned to the Georgia State Patrol’s Post 24 Newnan as a Trooper.  After serving with the Department of Public Safety for almost three years I felt a calling to go into the ministry.

I began my time in ministry as a Student Pastor at Callaway Baptist Church. After a year and a half as their Student Pastor I later transitioned to the position of Lead Pastor of Teaver Road Baptist Church.  I dedicated five years as the in-house Chaplain for the LaGrange Police Department.  While serving in this capacity I was able to help start the first mental health initiative for the officers of the LaGrange Police Department.  During our time at Teaver Road Baptist Church we have been blessed to gain legal custody of our son, David Fuller, who is now grown and serving in the United States Navy.  We have also been blessed with the birth of our two daughters, ages six and two.  In September of 2023 I began part-time employment with the LaGrange Police Department.  After eight years as the Lead Pastor at Teaver Road Baptist Church my wife and I decided to again follow the calling we feel on our hearts to run for Sheriff of Troup County
